Ramos Wins Individual State Women’s Wrestling Title
First year shines at State meet
FRESNO, Calif. (May 2, 2026) – The 2026, 207-pound California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) Women's Wrestling State Champion was crowned on May 2 when Avalynn Ramos took down the opposition at Fresno City College to become the first women's wrestler in Moorpark College history to win a state title.
Entering the weekend, Ramos was ranked No. 1 and she proved that that was exactly where she belonged. After battling on the mats, a takedown told the final story in her magical season when her hand was raised and she was declared the winner, in turn making MC history.
She helped the Raiders to a 12th place team finish in the meet as well. Moorpark had four student-athletes place at the state meet.
Turning in a fourth-place performance at the 235-pound weight class was Valeria Fuentes Leon and another pair of wrestlers advanced to the podium for the Raiders as well.
In the 117-pound division, Simoneta Zickeviciute came home with an eighth-place finish in her first 3C2A State Championships tournament while sophomore Martha Ha battled her way to eighth place in the 103-pound weight class in her final season of wrestling for the Raiders.
With history recorded and many members of the 2026 squad set to return for the 2026-27 academic year, the future looks bright for the Moorpark College women's wrestling program.
