Raiders Postseason Run Ends in 3C2A Regional Final
Lising leads Moorpark in loss
MOORPARK, Calif. (March 7, 2026) – After a week away from competition, the Raiders women's basketball team suited up for the Regional Finals (Round of 16) of the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) State Championship Tournament this evening inside of Raider Pavilion where No. 3 Moorpark was upset 66-55 by No. 6 Cypress before a packed crowd.
Lackluster shooting and defensive breakdowns by Moorpark played crucial roles in the season-ending loss to Cypress. The Chargers got hot, building as much as a 23-point advantage in the third period to seal the win, while the Raiders struggled to find any real rhythm in the game, despite some late pushes in the final 10-minute quarter.
Shooting at just a 32.2 percent clip (19-for-59), Moorpark was unable to connect in the paint and three-point shooting was off tonight as well (9-for-25). Free-throw shooting, however, was a bright spot, as the team combined to go 8-for-9. Hannah Lising left it all on the Moorpark court in her final home appearance, scoring a game-high 22 on 5-for-7 three-point shooting with a team-leading eight rebounds. Alyssa Saldana came off the bench for 11 points and five steals and Keilani Peralta handed out five assists.
Cypress combined to go 25-for-45 (46.3 percent) from the field and out-rebounded the home squad by a 42-29 margin, which was a big difference in the outcome as the Chargers scored nine second chance points to the Raiders' zero. Mariah Henderson scored 20 for Cypress while Marina Leiva finished with 18 and Kaylene Vivo handed out a game-high 10 assists.
The tip-off went to Cypress, but quick turnovers and early misses exposed nerves on both sides and kept the teams scoreless early. Lising forced a turnover, got a steal and put up the first crooked number on a fastbreak layup, but Cypress responded and went on a 6-0 run and the Raiders would not lead again in the game. Although Moorpark chipped away, tying things at 8-8, the Chargers would control the first frame, taking a 17-13 lead and never looked back.
Early in the second period, the ball started to fall for the home team. Saldana nabbed a steal, layup and capped off the three-point play with the first free-throw of the game, pulling MC to within one at 17-16. Unfortunately, back-to-back three-pointers pushed the CC lead to 23-16. A Lising long ball, a pair of Maleyni Tolliver free-throws and a Peralta steal that ended with a Lising layup got the gap down to two. At 34-27, Dayzia Mendoza got her hand on a huge block and rebound and Rhema Clements got another big block and the defense forced a shot clock violation, but as Cypress built up a 10-point lead, the Raiders were held scoreless over the final 4:59 of the half and the Chargers took a 37-27 advantage into the locker rooms.
After the break, Cypress owned the third quarter, outscoring MC 21-12 and continued to pace play on the court through the final buzzer, although there were sparks of energy from the Blue and White.
Trailing 58-39, Lising knocked down a three-pointer to start the fourth frame, which got the noise level up in the whole gym, and followed with another triple a minute later. A three-pointer as time expired on the shot clock from the hands of Peralta pulled the score to 64-50 with 4:03 to play and the Raiders closed the gap to 11 with 1:14 to play, which was ultimately the final scoring of the game.
Last week MC defeated No. 19 Bakersfield, 55-53, while Cypress took down No. 11 Long Beach 51-42.
Moorpark (26-4) closes out its season while Cypress (23-7) advances out of the Southern California Region to play in the 2026 3C2A State Championship Bracket, which will include No. 1 Mt. San Antonio College (def. No. 9 Saddleback 67-51), No. 2 Irvine Valley College (def. No. 23 Fullerton 46-39) and No. 5 MiraCosta (def. No. 13 LA Trade-Tech 53-47).
The Elite Eight teams will converge at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif. on March 12 (Round of eight) and 14-15 for the Semifinals and Championship games.
