Women's Basketball Enters WSC Play Ranked No. 4
MOORPARK, Calif. (Jan. 5, 2026) – A competitive preseason schedule is in the rearview mirror for the Moorpark College women's basketball team that has its sights set on a conference title and beyond in 2026. Currently, the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCWBCA) has Moorpark ranked tied for No. 4 entering league action.
The Raiders opened the 2025-26 season on a 7-0 run and sit at 13-3 at the conclusion of preseason play, which was rounded out with back-to-back victories. The team is 7-1 at home.
Though 16 games, MC has scored 1,069 points, for 66.8 points per game with a shooting percentage of 44.6 while holding opponents to 53.1 points per game. The Raiders have pulled down 40.1 rebounds per game (11.1 offensive, 29.1 defensive) with 17.1 assists per game, 8.8 steals per game and 3.2 blocks per game.
Leading the way for MC has been a sophomore quartet of Maleyni Tolliver, Keilani Peralta, Alyssa Saldana and Hannah Lising. Tolliver paces the pack with 265 points for a team-high 16.6 points per game. She is averaging 28.7 minutes per game and is shooting 57.6 percent from the floor (110-for-191). In addition to her offensive output, the center also contributes defensively with 7.3 rebounds per game (117 total). She has also added 24 assists, 10 blocks and eight steals to date.
Peralta has played a team-high 576 minutes thus far this winter. She is a three-point threat with 37 connections en route to 199 points through the first 16 games. Peralta is a sophomore who is 18-for-22 (81.8 percent) from the free-throw line. The guard has handed out 53 assists while pulling down 46 rebounds with 17 steals.
Five different players have over 100 points apiece this season with Saldana (146), Lising (140) and freshman Dayzia Mendoza (104) joining Tolliver and Peralta. Mendoza had connected for 25-for-62 three-pointers, shooting 40.3 percent from beyond the arc so far in her inaugural MC campaign. Aly Taufaasau (87), Rhema Clements (81), Taryn Watrin (28), Skylar Komatsu (13) and Ava Yazdandoost (6) have also provided offense for the Raiders. Watrin is 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. Clements is shooting 53.3 percent from the field (32-for-60) while Saldano has hit at a 50.5 percent clip from the floor (53-for-105).
Additionally, Tafaasau has handed out a team-leading 61 assists with Saldana dishing out 40 and Lising one back with 39.
Defensively, Clements has been a menace to the opposition with 28 blocks, adding 85 rebounds, 32 of which were offensive boards, and 13 steals. Lising is second on the squad with 88 rebounds and leads the pack with 33 steals. Tafaasau has tallied 22 steals as well. All 11 players, including Abby Degnan (five games), who have stepped onto the court this winter have grabbed at least one rebound.
The 12-game Western State Conference (WSC) schedule begins on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 7:00 p.m. against Santa Barbara inside of Raider Pavilion as part of California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) action.
