Homeruns Propel Softball to Victory in Regular Season Finale
Raiders finish second in WSC; await postseason fate
MOORPARK, Calif. (April 23, 2026) – The Moorpark College softball team closed out the regular season today at home against Mt. San Jacinto, defeating the Eagles 15-0, in five innings, to finish with a 17-15 mark.
The Raiders launched a pair of first inning homeruns, a solo shot from Lily Kougher and a three-run shot from Alyssa Morales, coupled with a two-RBI single from Kailey Greene that plated Morgan Casillas and Riley Furnace to open a comfortable 6-0 lead. Moorpark never looked back as the offensive assault continued throughout game.
Casillas drove in Kougher for another run in the top of the second and Samantha Salazar scored as well, extending the advantage to 8-0 after three. As extra insurance, Moorpark teamed up for a trio more in the third and Greene connected for a grand slam in the fourth to push the lead to 15-0.
Greene led the offense with a 2-for-3 day at the plate with six RBIs and two runs while Morales drove in three to aid her own cause and Casillas finished with two RBIs. Of the 13 hits, Casillas, Furnace, Kougher, Daniela Isarrararas and Rylee Redmond also had two apiece, joining Greene.
Morales (10-9) threw a complete game, allowing just one hit with three walks while striking out six in the shutout showing.
Today marked the final home game for the five sophomores, Greene, Aryanne Munoz, Abrial Ramirez, Abrianna Ramirez and Danielle Shinko.
Mt. San Jacinto finished the season 27-13 and looked to designated player Makayla Frye for the only hit of the day.
Moorpark (17-15, 10-2 WSC) rode through a successful Western State Conference (WSC) season to clinch second place in the league. The squad will find out its postseason fate over the weekend.
