Men’s Cross Country Earns Team WSC Championship
White, Williams pace pack to place second and fourth, respectively
MOORPARK, Calif. (Oct. 24, 2025) – The Moorpark College men's cross country team has had a history of success and today, the team added another team victory, 15th in program history, to the tally as the Raiders won the Western State Conference (WSC) Championships at Arroyo Vista Park.
From the starting gun, many of the MC runners placed themselves in the middle of the lead pack and maintained throughout with Tommy White and Trent Williams placing second and fourth overall, respectively, in 20:34.60 and 20:50.60. Also, among that group in the front were teammates Hezekiah Bergara (21:11.50) and David Raigoza (21:12.60) who ran stride-for-stride to place ninth and tenth. All four of the student-athletes aforementioned were named to the First Team All-WSC for their accomplishments.
"The men ran a strong, smart race," said head coach Traycie Kephart.
Logan Torres finished in 21:33.40, Angel Garcia clocked a 21:37.21 and Russell Benner notched a time of 21:48.20 to each landed on the Second Team All-WSC.
Finally, Theo Shniderman (21:56.40) and Andres Uribe (22:48.80) earned All-WSC Honorable Mention.
Today was the first 4-miler for the men's team. Also competing for the Raiders were Ethan Miller (22:54.0), Skyler Fong (23:06.90) and Ethan Tobi (27:37.80).
Moorpark (44) won the event by a decent margin whereas second place (Cuesta – 88) and third place (Bakersfield – 89) were separated by a single point. Glendale (114), Allan Hancock (123), College of the Canyons (135), Ventura (175), Santa Monica (206), Oxnard (220), Citrus (290), Antelope Valley (320) and West LA (340) rounded out the field.
The Moorpark College men's cross country team has been crowned conference champion 14 times before this year. Most recently, MC took home the titles consecutively in 2022 and 2021. MC also earned honors in 1996, 1983, 1982, 1981 and during an eight-year run from 1969-1975.
Additionally, for the first time in Moorpark College cross country history, both the men's and women's teams earned a WSC Championships team title in the same season after the Raiders women locked up first place earlier today as well. Both programs did also win championships in 1983 as part of the Mountain Valley Conference.
All of the successes on the course to this point have been build up for even more meets this season as the team gears up for both 3C2A Southern California Championships (Nov. 7 at NTC Park in San Diego) and hopefully the 3C2A State Championships in Fresno two weeks later.
