Nine Men’s Soccer Players Honored with All-WSC Recognition; Gwin Named Co-Coach of the Year
Diaz, Vance tagged as WSC Player of the Year
MOORPARK, Calif. (Dec. 15, 2025) – Announced late last month, the Western State Conference (WSC) selected nine members of the Moorpark College men's soccer program for All-WSC North honors. Uziel Diaz was named co-Offensive Player of the Year while Artun Vance was selected as a co-Goalkeeper of the Year. Additionally, head coach Jake Gwin was tabbed as a co-Head Coach of the Year in 2025.
Gwin guided his squad to a California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) postseason run, for the first time in decades, during his eighth season at the helm of the Raiders. MC scored 42 goals in 21 games to average two goals per game during a 9-7-5 showing. This is the first WSC coaching recognition in Gwin's career at Moorpark.
Vance became a repeat recipient of WSC Goalkeeper of the Year recognition after earning the same accolade in 2024. The sophomore stopper appeared in and started 18 games in which he recorded 51 saves and six shutouts.
Diaz was a force all season for the Raiders, scoring a team-leading 14 goals with a trio of assists for a total of 31 points during his sophomore season en route to conference honors. A repeat-All-WSC recipient, Diaz was a Second Team All-WSC selection in 2024. This fall, he scored a season-high four goals against Compton on Sept. 9 and added another hat-trick on Sept. 22 against Cerro Coso. During a 6-3 victory over Lemoore on Sept. 2 Diaz found the back of the net twice. Diaz contributed five game-winning goals in his final season for the Raiders.
Sophomores Shane Donis and Troy Mishkanian became two-time All-WSC honorees after earning First Team All-WSC accolades in 2025. Donis becomes a two-time First Team selection after being tabbed as the same in 2024 while Mishkanian earned HM a year ago. Also reeling in First Team All-WSC this fall was freshman Sebastian Alvarado.
Donis appeared in 20 games this season and anchored the defensive unit. Midfielder, Mishkanian was second on the squad to Diaz with eight goals and five assists for 21 points. His only game-winner came in a 3-2 victory over Imperial Valley on Sept. 16. The final MC goal of his career was scored in the 3C2A SoCal Regional. Finally, Alvarado transitioned smoothly into collegiate soccer, contributing right away with a goal and three assists. He tallied both a goal and an assist in a 4-0 shutout against Allan Hancock on Nov. 11.
The Second Team All-WSC was comprised of sophomores Diego Estrada and Alejandro Barreto. Estrada appeared in 21 games and provided steady defense while also firing off seven shots throughout the season. Barreto played in the midfield, supplying the squad with a goal and an assist in wins over Lemoore and Imperial Valley, respectively.
Rounding out the recognitions with Honorable Mention nods were Bobby Bahgeri and Ricky Esparza, who becomes a two-time All-WSC Honorable Mention after earning identical accolades in 2024. Bahgeri supplied a trio of goals, in his first MC season, at the midfield and forward positions. Esparza showed his versatility, splitting time playing midfield and as part of the defensive unit during his sophomore campaign. He scored once this season and it was a game-winner against Cerro Coso on Sept. 22.
Moorpark (9-7-5) produced a 5-3-2 WSC record to place third in 2025.
