Raiders State Run Stopped in 2OT
Moorpark falls short in double-overtime playoff game
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2025) – For the first time in over a decade, the Moorpark College men's soccer program qualified into the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) State Championship Tournament. Unfortunately, a heartbreaking double-overtime, 2-1, loss to San Bernardino Valley College on the road today ended the Raiders hopes of a magical postseason run.
MC took a 1-0 lead on a Troy Mishkanian goal just before the intermission on an assist from Alex Bosanac, swaying momentum in favor of the Blue and White. Everything was extremely promising as regulation ran down with the Raiders on top, despite a surge from the San Bernardino Valley offense that challenged the defensive unit. At the conclusion of regulation, Moorpark led, except that the teams still had to play stoppage time. Seconds prior to that final whistle, the Wolverines scored an equalizing goal to send the squads into overtime.
After a scoreless first 15-minute overtime, the teams remained knotted at 1-1. Moorpark controlled the start of the second OT with a corner kick and four shots, three from Uziel Diaz before the heartbreaker came from San Bernardino Valley's Emmanuel Guzman in the 117th minute. Still, MP battled throughout the final three minutes as the team created another pair of scoring chances, despite falling short.
Goalkeeper Artun Vance was forced off the field before overtime ensued, yet returned in the final four minutes of the second OT. He recorded seven saves in just over 94 minutes of action. Pavel Fabian came off the bench for a pair of saves in his 25 minutes of action. Each allowed one goal.
In his final MC appearance, Diaz paced the pack with six shots. Mishkanian added a pair, including his eighth goal of his sophomore campaign, while Bosanac and Ramiro Chavez took a pair of shots apiece.
The group of Bosanac, Chavez, Diaz, Mishkanian, Vance, Alejandro Barreto, Antonio De La Cruz, Shane Donis, Ricky Esparza, Diego Estrada, Ignacio Garcia and Mikey Robledo each donned Blue and White for Moorpark one final time today.
SBVC (14-6-2) advances to play in the 3C2A Soccer Championships Second Round on Saturday night at Mt. SAC at 7:00 p.m. while the Moorpark (9-7-5) season comes to a close.
