Oh, how sweet the sound...of the final buzzer.
The last time the Moorpark College men's basketball team heard a final buzzer, they were walking off its home floor on Dec. 10 after a win over Santa Ana. The Raiders' next challenge was not on the hardwood as it faced COVID-19 issues within their program that forced the team to pause all activities.
Moorpark returned to the floor with a 72-68 win at Allan Hancock in a Western State Conference opener Monday night. It was a 38-day span in between games.
Angel Hammer led the way with 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Ben Condra added 21 points and seven rebbounds. Rocco Pompeo and Luka Marich had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Moorpark (9-8, 1-0) will next host Oxnard Wednesay at 5 p.m. No fans are permitted to attend.
