Raiders Explode for 9-0 Victory
Six score in dominating women’s soccer win
MOORPARK, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2025) – On a blazing hot afternoon at the campus of Moorpark College, the women’s soccer team was just as hot, outscoring LA Harbor 9-0 to notch back-to-back shutouts after defeating Antelope Valley, 1-0, on Friday, Sept. 12.
It took just over one minute of play for first year defender Cynthia Centeno to score the ultimate game-winner, just 32 seconds before Mia Woods found the back of the net to double up the score. The third score of the game, which came at the 3:04 mark, came off the foot of Alysa Diaz.
The Raiders continued to pepper the LAH goal and Diaz connected for her second of the contest and season to give Moorpark a 4-0 advantage going into halftime.
Out of the break, MC turned back to Woods for her second of the day, third goal of the season after scoring and providing an assist in a 2-0 win over Orange Coast on Aug. 29, which was the team’s first victory of the fall. Liz Escoto got in on the scoring action for the first goal of her freshman campaign. Freshman teammate Ava Morris then connected for back-to-back goals on consecutive possessions, the first assisted by Maddison Duenas. The pair of goals was the first scoring in the career of Morris. Rounding out the afternoon with the ninth goal of the day was freshman forward Juliana Krostag.
The defense kept the scoreboard clean for the second straight game. Maria Sturges recorded one save today without allowing a goal. The first-year keeper has started all five games and to date has notched 22 saves. Each MC victory this season has been by way of a shutout.
Today’s margin of victory was the largest in the Moorpark coaching career of Head Coach Kai Werring who took the helm of the program in 2021. MC produced 7-0 victories on Nov. 3, 2023 and Nov. 4, 2022 over Cuesta and Allan Hancock, respectively.
Moorpark (3-3, 0-0 WSC) returns to the pitch on Friday, Sept. 19 when the Raiders host West LA at 1:30 p.m.
Box Score: MC 9, LAH 0
