6 Conference Championships and 8 athletes being recognized as player of the year highlights the 2024-25 Sports Season
The 2024-25 Moorpark College Athletics season has come to an end. It has been a wonderful year for Moorpark Athletics, and they will look to follow it up next year.
The year was highlighted by 6 conference championships and 8 athletes being recognized as a standout conference player of year in their respective position and sport and saw the retirement of longtime Baseball coach, Mario Porto.
The Fall season saw the Women's Golf team complete the first ever undefeated WSC conference schedule in school history to claim the school's 3rd WSC title and finished in 5th place at the 3C2A State Tournament.
Women's Volleyball won their 16th WSC championship in school history and were led by by WSC North Player of the Year and an a CCCWVBCA All-State selection Grace Hazelton. They made it to the 2nd round of 3C2A So Cal Regionals and dominated the All-WSC North selections with a total of 8 players selected.
Men's Cross Country turned in their best finish at the 3C2A State Meet since 1997 finishing in 4th place. Women's Cross Country finished in 3rd place at 3C2A Southern Cal Regional and 7th at the 3C2A State Meet. Tyler Smith (12th place) and Tommy White (14th place) paced the Men at State while Maya Natarajan (14th) led the Women at the state meet as all three earned All-American status
Football had nine players named to the SCFA National Northern All-League team that saw injuries taking their toll on the season.
Women's Soccer finished in 4th place in WSC North and they made the playoffs They had seven players selected to the WSC North All-Conference team including WSC North Goalkeeper of the Year, Emma Ott. Men's Soccer had a long year but 6 players were named All-WSC North with Artun Vance being named WSC North Goalkeeper of the Year.
Mason Carrillo led the Men's Wrestling team as he won the SCWA Southeast Regional at 133 lbs and finished runner-up at the 3C2A State Tournament as a freshman.
Men's and Women's Basketball both won WSC North Championships. The Men's made it back to back titles to win their 9th in school history. They made it to the second round of the 3C2A Southern California Regionals while having the Player of the Year Isaiah Sherrard, and Coach of the Year Keith Higgins.
Women's Basketball won their 6th straight WSC Championship and 10th in school history. They were seeded 4th and made it to the third round of the 3C2A Southern California Regionals. They also had the player of the Year in Mika Jarrett, Coach of the Year in Kenny Plummer and co-6th Woman of the Year in Alyssa Saldana.
Spring was highlighted with Women's Wrestling starting their inaugural season. Lily Bosoletti led the Raiders in their first year into competition.
Men's Track and Field won their 4th straight and 16th overall WSC championship and both Men's and Women's Track & Field were overall team champions for the 2nd time in a row. The Men had 3 individual WSC Champions with the 4x400 team claiming 1st place. The women had 2 individual WSC Champions. Both teams had a total of 11 athletes qualify for the 3C2A Southern California Finals with 3 men and 1 woman making it to the 3C2A State meet. All four athletes medaled in their respective events led by Luke Sawyer's 4th place finish in the 800m earning him All-Amercan status
Softball finished in 2nd place in WSC North while So.standout Kylie Kolkowski was named WSC North Player of the Year. A total of 9 Raiders were selected to the All-WSC North team.
Men's Volleyball, playing in the re-aligned Northern Region Canyon Conference, took home the 1st ever conference championship in school history making it to the 3C2A State quarterfinals. They were led by conference player of the year Jacob Knudsen.
Beach Volleyball was led by their #1s Prior Borick and Grace Hazelton. They finished in 3rd place at the WSC Pairs tournament and took 2nd at the 3C2A Southern Cal Pairs tournament were named All-WSC along with teammates Gaby Shirado and Mia Paculan
Baseball had 5 athletes named to the All-WSC North squad and they said farewell to longtime Head Coach Mario Porto sending him off with a walk-off win in his last game.

With the year being over, Moorpark Athletics will turn its focus towards the 2025-26 season.
There will be high hopes and aspirations for many of these teams after their amazing performances this year, and it will all kick off this fall. Go Raiders!
