Lady Raider track & field stars Megan McNally and Alexis Pichardo finished an impressive 5th and 9th respectively in the 10, 000 meter race at Cerritos College on Friday during day one of the California State Track & Field finals. Below is a full recap of the days events.
NORWALK – After the first day of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Championships at Cerritos College, the host Falcon women’s team are off to a big lead, thanks to wins by Priscilla Gardner (discus) and Angel Sifuentes (javelin) and have compiled 36 points with three events completed. On the men’s side, the 1-2 finish of Daniel Herrera and Munir Kahssay have given Cerritos an early lead after the first three events.
After the first half of the decathlon, Myke Tavarres of College of the Siskiyous holds a two-point lead (3689-3687) over Tomek Czerwinski of Mt. San Antonio, while Shanice Stewart of San Bernardino Valley leads the heptathlon with 3192 points.
Saturday gets underway at 9:30 a.m. with the conclusion of the decathlon and heptathlon, with the first field event starting at 2:30 p.m. and the first running event beginning at 4:00 p.m. Below are the top eight finishers of the first three events.
