Eric Varney, 2011 graduate of Moorpark College, has advanced to the NCAA Div 1 Men’s Volleyball Final Four. His team, Lewis University, was awarded the bid after beating Ohio State University. The Flyers will face USC in Los Angeles at the Galen Center on Thursday at 8:00 pm.
Varney was the starting libero on Moorpark’s 2010 California State Chmapionship team. He leads his Lewis team in Digs at 1.92 per game.
Lewis #3 seed is 26-6. In the other semifinal game, #1 seed UC Irvine will take on #4 Penn State. The winner of those two games will meet in the National Championship game on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
