The Lady Raiders made the long trip to San Luis Obispo to take on Cuesta College worth while. Opening up the first game of the double header with an impressive 8-2 victory. Taylor Cartwright, Faylan Lee, and Nicole Echterling each had 2 hits in that game. Faylan Lee and Heaven Silveira both had two RBI’s and Amanda Chatman scored three times and used to her speed to steal 3 bases in that game. Marti Lewis picked up the win pitcing a complete game and scattering just 6 hits.
In the final game of the series, Cuesta had to dig deep to come up with a 3-2 victory over the Raiders. Scoring 3 runs in the first two innings and held off the Raiders who mounted several attacks and stranded 9 runners on base. “We put ourself in position to win the game several times but just could not come up with the hit when we needed it”, said Coach Fox. You have to hand it to Cuesta to come up with some big defensive plays when they needed them the most. Marti Lewis added a solo blast in the 2nd inning and Faylan Lee had 3 hits in that game.
” I am pleased with the progress of our team and how we played Cuesta College this year. Its tough to travel up to San Luis Obispo and win two games on the road. The athletes worked really hard today and almost completed the sweep”, said Coach Fox.
